Week 8 - Time

This week students have enjoyed looking at the baby photos coming in and trying to guess who the baby is.  We have been exploring telling  time including o'clock, half past and quarter to the hour and after the hour.  We have also been checking students ability to identify days of the week and months of the year, some students are not confident naming them so that could be a home activity to help your child.

We have also been exploring time at Investigation time.  Making time machines, painting pictures illustrating the seasons of the year, making Weekly Planners and playing time games to improve time knowledge.

Thank you to all those families that raised money for the Basic Facts Fundraiser.  Please remember to send some baking to school on Friday, on the paper plate that was sent home last week.

Check out our photos and Louise King's story about time travel.

This isn’t true.  This story is just from my imagination.
Did you know that scientists are lying to you?  Because they are more than capable of making time machines.

So I made a Time Machine, in my backyard!  Yeah that’s right, in my backyard.  The TV screamed in my ear.  Then it said “Call this number to be in to win a time machine!!!!”

Several weeks later…….

I got the time machine, so I had to test it.  Darn.  So I threw my cat Eve in the machine Beep Boop.  I pressed all the buttons, but then nothing happened so I gave it a Wackity Whack, but sparks flew so then I jumped in.  I could feel myself being lifted off the ground.  Eve looked at me, frightened.

So, when we landed at our destination we saw SO MANY DINOSAURS.  I was astonished yet Eve was still really frightened.  This was amazing but really beautiful.  I felt like I was in paradise!  Afterward, Abracosaurus came stomping by almost crushing us, luckily we ran away.  Soon I saw someone in the distance and fortunately there were some binoculars wedged in the sand.  I looked  “Izzy”  I screamed.  “Louise!” shouted Izzy, running toward me.  “Don’t fall in the quick sand.” I bellowed to Izzy.  “Stop” Izzy said to a HUGE brachiosaurus, “AHH!”

I screamed “Don’t worry he won’t hurt you.”  she said to me.  He just wants some leaves to eat.  I think it is time to go and I think the teleporter is broken and it’s getting dark, QUICK.  Luckily we made it home for dinner, it was my favourite and it wasn’t leaves!
