This week we saw the hatching of our first chrysalis into a beautiful monarch butterfly. It was great timing as we were all back at school. Everyone was very excited and enjoyed viewing the process.
This week students have been involved in PAT, Basic Facts testing and they will be completing a writing sample on Thursday.
Thank you to the parents who came to parent interviews to discuss their child's learning and took part in setting their child's goals. Sarah and I both commented how we learnt lots in each interview and the new information about those individuals will help us better meet their learning needs.
We are still developing and fine tuning our routines and one routine that students have become very efficient at is enjoying reading after play and lunch times. After morning tea students come in and spend up to fifteen minutes reading from their group reading boxes and then after lunch they get to choose what they read. Students have a choice of sitting at their desks, in bean bags, lying on the floor, sitting on the ottomans or on the couch. Check out the photos of students sitting in their preferred seating developing their love of reading.
Just a reminder we have our library visit tomorrow and swimming on Monday.
